Two of the most iconic works from the 2013 Venice Biennale will go on view in New York City in 2014: Marino Auriti’s scale model of his proposed “Encyclopedic Palace” (above), which was the generative work of Massimiliano Gioni’s same-titled show, will be displayed by the American Folk Art Museum, which owns it; and Sarah Sze’s installation for the American Pavilion, which was commissioned by the Bronx Museum of the Arts, will be going on tour thanks to a $50,000 National Endowment for the Arts grant, including a stop in the Bronx.
While the details and itinerary for the tour of Sze’s installation, “Triple Point” (detail below), have not yet been announced, Auriti’s model of a 136-story Washington D.C. skyscraper that he imagined would contain all the world’s knowledge will be included in a show at the Folk Art Museum due to open in May.
